Good vibe tribe wins dodgeball tournament

The Good Vibe Tribe took home the title at the Fellowship of Christian Athletes’ (FCA) first dodgeball tournament on March 31.

Members of The Good Vibe Tribe Jeff Fleming, Joe Alston, James Holewinski, Tyler Siglin and Adam Weintraub beat four other teams to become the tournament champions. Each member of the winning team also won a $20 Amazon gift card.

The Dodgeball Tournament served several purposes for the club.

“Fun would be a big one,” said Luke Staley, a recent Hood graduate and overseer of the FCA program in Frederick. “The student leaders for the club want Hood FCA to be a club that puts on great community events for the campus.”

Outreach was another purpose, as Staley said the club is always open to having new members join its weekly club meetings, and events like last week’s, as it helps them connect with more students.

Staley said the club members have an idea for another large event towards the end of the semester that they are planning to make public next week.

Staley said that FCA’s vision is to see the world transformed by Jesus through the influence of coaches and athletes. “But underneath the umbrella of that super-objective, the club has lots of other goals and visions,” Staley said. “Those are ultimately decided by the student leaders and our club members. But the heart of this club is to share Jesus through love, service, and community at Hood.”

Students are welcome to stop by meetings which are held on Thursdays at 8 p.m. in Whit 220. You can follow FCA on Instagram at @hoodcollegefca.
